1st July-31st December 2016: Slovak EU Council Presidency

For the 1st time, Slovakia hold the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December 2016

On 1st July 2016 Slovakia will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from the Netherlands and hold it until 31st December 2016, when the Presidency will be passed to the next trio partner Malta (from 1st January 2017).

The Trio Presidency – The Netherlands, Slovakia and Malta – together with the European Commission and the European Youth Forum, have agreed Enabling all young people to engage in a diverse, connected and inclusive Europe as the overarching theme for the 18 months Structured Dialogue participation of young people.

In the youth sector, the Slovak Presidency’s focus will be on developing the talent and potential of young people by introducing attractive approaches in youth work. It intends to adopt Council Conclusions on new approaches in youth work which are aimed at developing young people’s potential and their inclusion in society.
